Legal Marijuana in Canada
Frank Scarpitti – We don’t care about losing marijuana revenue: Markham mayor
Private cannabis stores are coming to Ontario, but communities across the province can opt out of having them. Frank Scarpitti, mayor of Markham, joins BNN Bloomberg to explain why his city is one of two that opted out last week.
The only thing I know about Markham is the number of adult massage parlours strategically nestled around various high-tech companies I’ve seen for years when driving through that area.. Where are you Frank when it’s time to really clean up your neighbourhood?
Frank should also care about tax revenue.. Scarpitti openly backed the bid to build a NHL arena with taxpayers on the hook for half of the $325-million cost to build the arena. BTW – Nobody wants to go to Markham for a second NHL franchise in the GTA.
This isn’t about tax revenue, it’s about closing down all the marijuana black markets out there… Markham has had its fair share of illegal marijuana grow-op problems over the years, but let’s keep that black market thriving under Scarpitti’s wisdom and leadership.
