It isn't in the nicest stretch of town. It's just kind of on its own, which in a way is a good thing because it's out-of-the-way from schools and whatnot. But it is in a well-travelled area and it's bright. A little landscaping and not feeling like you're in some illicit square of town could go a long way toward an overall pleasant experience. The parking lot was in shambles - don't go through here with fragile tires.
If you're having any lingering transition issues related to your mom or your kid seeing you going into a cannabis store, there was an outdoor line when I went in April, and there are quite a few cars passing by, right there on Main Street. But access issues can be easily dealt with by management and I'm sure lines are not a common thing. Though keep in mind there are lineups everywhere right before holiday closures.
Once you're inside, the door handlers are on-point but friendly, and may even give you a quick run-down on what to expect if it's your first time. Like most of these stores, it's an Apple Store design inside. Big glass counters showing samples of the products and words on screens that you probably won't linger to read for long. There are plenty of staff on the floor (perhaps due to the flow control at the door) and all are friendly and know what they're talking about. The staff working behind the counter seem very coordinated and efficient.
One big plus for me on the inside is that the lighting is not overwhelmingly brilliant like it is in the Ajax location (my only other comparison currently). The place has a very muted and relaxed colour scheme with enough lighting to do what you have to do.
From my experience, if you really know what you're looking for - strain, strength, what activities you plan on doing - you can be in and out of here in a few minutes. That was another plus.
Like at most stores, you get a nice little paper shopping bag for your purchases.
